County
Greenville County and Anderson County. The Saluda River is the dividing line.
Moving to Piedmont, SC
Piedmont sits along the Saluda River, partly in Greenville County and partly in Anderson County, so the exact address tells us which county’s records and offices apply. Send me a listing you like to get started.

The basics I’d want in hand first.
Greenville County and Anderson County. The Saluda River is the dividing line.
Not a city or town. It’s an unincorporated community, and the Census Bureau counted 5,411 people there in 2020.
29673. Check the exact address for a specific home.
Greenville County Schools or Anderson School District One, depending on the address.
Population is the 2020 Census count for the Piedmont Census-designated place. County, ZIP-area and school-district lines are from 2020 Census geography. Checked September 26, 2026.
A house can look great online. I want to know what living there would look like for you. Where do you work? What do you want nearby? What are you hoping your next home gives you that your current one doesn’t?
Piedmont’s mill history goes back to 1873, when Henry Hammett organized the Piedmont Manufacturing Company at Garrison Shoals on the Saluda River. The state chartered it in 1874, and its first mill started running in 1876. That mill burned in 1983 and isn’t standing today. If being near the river is on your list, tell me, and we’ll start the search close to it.
I’ve helped buyers make their move to Piedmont, including buying new construction. If a house catches your eye, send it to me and we’ll go through it together.
Do these with the address in hand, before you make an offer.
Look up the parcel with the county. Greenville County and Anderson County keep separate property, tax, and planning records, so confirm which one governs the home before you rely on anything else.
Confirm water, sewer or septic, fire protection, trash, and internet for the exact home. Providers can differ from one street to the next, so ask for provider details and records instead of assuming.
Newer subdivisions sit near older mill-era streets. For a new build, confirm which county the lot is in first, then get the HOA documents and the builder’s contract before you decide. For an older home, ask for repair and permit records.
Look into the land around the home as well as your own parcel, and ask the county that governs the address about zoning. Greenville County Council adopted the Piedmont Area Plan in December 2024, and Anderson County has adopted it too. A plan map isn’t a promise about what gets built.
Start with the county that governs the parcel. Confirm the details that affect your decision.
Use the county’s property records to identify the parcel and the information held about it. Confirm taxes for the home you’re considering.
Anderson County’s property viewer and assessor’s office cover parcels on the Anderson side. Confirm ownership, assessment, and tax questions with the county.
Check school assignment separately from the county record, then confirm which district and schools serve the exact home.
If you own and live in the home as your legal residence, you may qualify for South Carolina’s 4% assessment ratio. Apply with the assessment office of the county where the home is, using its requirements and deadline.
Sources checked September 23–26, 2026. Use the linked offices and organizations for current information. Confirm property details and the terms of your purchase with the office or professional responsible.
Most of these come down to the parcel.
Both. Piedmont is an unincorporated community along the Saluda River, and the county line runs through it. Look up the exact parcel to see which county it’s in.
No. Piedmont uses ZIP code 29673, and homes on both sides of the county line can share a Piedmont mailing city and ZIP code. Use the county property records for the parcel.
Use the school district’s own lookup or office for the exact address. County records and school assignment are separate checks. Confirm assignment questions directly with the district rather than relying on a listing description.
Ask for the seller’s information and supporting records, then confirm with the provider that serves the address. Include any inspection and maintenance questions before deciding what you’re comfortable taking on.
Yes. I can walk the house and the street with you on live video, and we can check the parcel’s county record before you travel. Save an in-person visit for your top choice, and leave time for the inspections you want.
Tell me which one. We’ll start with the parcel, then the house and the drive.
